2012 MANKATO AREA BASS TOUR RULES

THESE RULES WILL REMAIN UNCHANGED FOR 2012 SEASON
1. ENTRY FEE - EACH TOURNAMENT WILL BE $200.00. A DEPOSIT OF $400.00 WILL SECURE YOUR POSITION FOR FULL SERIES. ALL TEAMS MUST COMPETE IN ALL 4 EVENTS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS. THIS DEPOSIT IS EQUAL TO 1/2 OF EACH TOURNAMENT FEE. THE BALANCE OF $400.00 PER TEAM WILL BE DUE AT THE MAY TOURNAMENT MEETING. FAILURE TO PAY REMAINING BALANCE WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FROM ALL FURTHER EVENTS AND FORFIETURE OF INITIAL DEPOSIT. PRIORITY WILL BE GIVEN TO ALL TEAMS FISHING COMPLETE CIRCUIT. SINGLE EVENT ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL OFFICIAL CUT OFF TIME ON TUESDAY (NO ENTRIES AT THE RAMP THIS YEAR!!!
2. BIG BASS POT - BIG BASS POT WILL BE $10.00 PER TEAM AND WILL BE PAYABLE AT EACH TOURNAMENT MORNING CHECK-IN. BIG BASS POT IS OPTIONAL BUT HIGHLY ENCOURAGED.
3. PRE-SEASON MEETING - AT LEAST ONE MEMBER OF EACH TEAM WILL BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND A PRE-SEASON RULES MEETING. TIME AND PLACE TO BE DETERMINED.
4. OFF LIMITS - TOURNAMENT LAKE WILL BE OFF LIMITS AT 9PM OF THE TUESDAY THAT PROCEEDS THE TOURNAMENT DATE.
5. FISHING METHODS - ONLY ARTIFICIAL BAITS WILL BE ALLOWED. NO LIVE BAIT PERMITTED. TROLLING AS MEANS TO CATCH FISH IS NOT PERMITTED.
6. FISHING LOCATIONS - ANY AREA THAT IS ACCESSABLE BY WATER WILL BE PERMITTED FISHING LOCATIONS. NO CONTESTANT WILL BE PERMITTED TO LEAVE BOAT EXCEPT FOR AN EMERGENCY OR TO RETRIEVE A STUCK LURE FROM A DOCK, TREE OR ANY OTHER STRUCTURE. ANGLERS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO LEAVE BOAT TO PUSH OR ASSIST BOAT TO ACCESS HARD TO NAVIGATE AREAS.
7. OFFICIAL CHECK IN POINT - ALL TEAMS ARE REQUIRED TO BE AT OFFICIAL CHECK IN AT LEAST 1/2 HOUR PRIOR TO TOURNAMENT START TIME. ALL TEAMS ARE REQUIRED TO BE BACK TO OFFICIAL CHECK IN POINT BY TOURNAMENT ENDING TIME. LATE TO WEIGH IN = DISQUALIFICATION! NO EXCUSES!!
8. LANDING NETS - LANDING NETS ARE PERMITTED AND ENCOURAGED.
9. AGE - ALL CONTESTANTS MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADUL;T OR LEGAL GUARDIAN.
10. LIMIT - A FULL LIMIT SHALL CONSIST OF FIVE (5) BASS. BOTH LARGEMOUTH AND SMALLMOUTH (WHEN IN SEASON) WILL BE PERMITTED. A MINIMUM LENGTH OF 12" WILL BE REQUIRES FOR EACH FISH. ANY "SHORT" FISH WILL RESULT IN THE LOSS OF SHORT FISH ALONG WITH THE LOSS OF THE LARGEST FISH IN LIMIT. FISH WILL BE MEASURED WITH MOUTH CLOSED AND TAIL FANNED. A COURTESY MEASURE WILL BE ALLOWED BEFORE PRESENTING FISH.
11. SPORTSMANSHIP - AN AREA OF 50' WILL BE SECURED BY ANY TEAM USING A BUOY. ONLY ONE BUOY MAY BE USED AT ANY ONE TIME, USE OF MORE THEN ONE BUOY WILL VOID BUOY RULE. 30' WILL BE SECURED ALL OTHER TIMES. USE COMMON SENSE AND GIVE OTHERS THE RESPECT YOU WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE IN RETURN.
12. TIES - TIES WILL BE BROKEN BY THE FOLLOWING ORDER (1) MOST LIVE FISH (2) BIG BASS (3) COIN FLIP.
13. FLOATATION DEVICES - FLOATATION DEVICES MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES WHEN BIG MOTOR IS RUNNING.
14. DRUG AND ALCOHOL - DRUGA AND ALCOHOL ARE NOT PERMITTED DURING TOURNAMENT HOURS. ALCOHOL MAY BE CONSUMED AFTER YOUR TEAM HAS WEIGHED IN.
15. SUBSTITUTION - ALL TEAMS WILL BE ALLOWED ONE (1) SUBSTITUTION FOR ONE (1) TOURNAMENT DURING THE SEASON. TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR MUST BE NOTIFIED OF SUBSTITUTION BEFORE THE START OF THE EVENT AT MORNING CHECK IN/BOAT CHECK.
16. PROTESTS - ALL PROTESTS MUST BE REPORTED TO TUORNAMENT DIRECTOR AT LEAST 1/2 HOUR AFTER OFFICIAL WEIGH IN TIME. ALL PROTESTS MUST INCLUDE IN WRITING ANY RULE INFRACTION ALONG WITH $50.00, WHICH WILL BE REFUNDED IF PROTEST IS RULED IN YOUR FAVOR. PROTESTS WILL BE RULED BY BOAT NUMBER 5 AND 10 OF EACH EVENT. IF ONE OF THESE BOATS IS INVOLVED IN PROTEST, BOAT 6 OR 11 WILL FILL THIS POSITION. RULING WILL BE DEEMED FAIR AND RESULTS WILL BE FINAL. ALL DECISIONS OF THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR WILL BE FINAL.
17. TEAM OF THE YEAR - TEAM OF THE YEAR, STANDINGS AND PLACEMENT IN TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS WILL BE DETERMINED BY A POINTS SYSTEM. THE STANDARD POINTS SYSTEM WILL BE AS FOLLOWS 1ST PLACE = 100 POINTS, 2ND PLACE = 99 POINTS, 3RD PLACE = 98 POINTS AND SO ON DOWN TO THE LAST PLACE FINISHING TEAM IN EACH OF THE FOUR QUALIFYING EVENTS. IN THE EVENT OF A POINTS TIE FOR THE END OF YEAR TOC QUALIFICATION, ALL TIED TEAMS WILL BE INVITED TO COMPETE. IN THE EVENT OF A TIE FOR THE TEAM OF THE YEAR, FINAL STANDINGS WILL DETERMINED BY THE SAME RULES AS EACH TOURNAMENT. TIES WILL BE BROKEN IN THE FOLLOWING ORDER (1) MOST LIVE BASS (2) BIG BASS (3) COIN FLIP.
18. TOC - THE TOP 15 TEAMS AT THE END OF THE QUALIFYING EVENTS WILL BE ELIGIBLE TO COMPETE IN THE TOC. IF THERE ARE LESS THEN 20 TEAMS FISHING THE COMPLETE CIRCUIT, THE TOP 60% OF TEAMS WILL BE ELIGIBLE. EXAMPLE...15 TEAMS FISHING ALL FOUR EVENTS = 9 TEAMS IN THE TOC PLUS ANY TIED TEAMS!
19. VIOLATIONS - ANY VIOLATIONS OF THE ABOVE RULES, FISH AND GAME LAWS OR MOVING VIOLATIONS MAY RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION.
20. DISCLAIMER - ANY PERSONS INVOLVED IN VIOLATION DECISIONS TO INCLUDE THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR WILL NOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANY REASON FOR ANYTHING. MANKATO AREA BASS TOUR AND ALL OFFICIALS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS, DAMAGE OR INJURY CAUSED BY CONTESTANTS. EACH BOAT OWNER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HAVING SECURED PROPER INSURANCE FOR HIS/HER WATERCRAFT AND ALL ACTIONS WITH IN THAT WATERCRAFT.

21. FINAL THOUGHTS - ALTHOUGH THESE TOURNAMENTS ARE VERY COMPETATIVE, ALL CONTESTANTS SHOULD HAVE THE UPMOST RESPECT FOR THE BODY OF WATER, HOME OWNERS AROUND THAT BODY OF WATER, ANY OTHER NON-FISHING USER OF THE BODY OF WATER AND ALL OTHER COMPETITORS. EACH COMPETITOR REPRESENTS THIS TOURNAMENT AND BASS FISHERMEN AS A WHOLE AND ANY LACK OF GOOD JUDGEMENT REFLECTS ON NOT ONLY THE VIOLATOR BUT EVERY BASS FISHERMAN THERE IS. IF WE WANT TO CONTINUE TO PERSUE OUR PASSION, WE NEED TO HAVE RESPECT FOR EACH OTHER AND ALL OF OUR SURROUNDINGS!!!
